monardella- (Monardella undulata) – Curly leaved Monardella is an annual plant in the mint family (Lamiaceae). Named for its wavy leaf margins, curly leaved monardella flowers in late spring and early summer, when it produces small purple flowers on a dense head at the end of 20-60 cm tall stalks. Curly leaved monardella occurs in communities on sandy soils in central coastal California, including the Zayante Sandhills—a unique community of plants and animals found only on sandy soils of the Zayante series in central Santa Cruz County.
